"Bader and Mau's works create a powerful visual dialogue that explores the intersection of the internal and external landscapes of an artist's life."
Enari Gallery is proud to present Internal Encounters, a duo exhibition featuring the works of Raffael Bader (Germany, 1987) and Thomas Mau (Denmark, 1978).
The exhibition showcases the artist's exploration of strong narratives surrounding storytelling, abstraction, and figuration. Bader and Mau's oeuvre can be summarized as a dialogue between the isolation and beauty mirrored in the landscape. Through their use of colorful hues, intricate mark-making, and bold subject matter, the artists create a harrowing and intimate viewing experience for the audience. Bader's work explores the idea of storytelling as a means of understanding one's place in the world. His paintings are a complex layering of color and texture that evoke a sense of nostalgia and introspection. Bader's use of abstraction allows the viewer to interpret his works uniquely, making for a truly personal encounter.
In contrast, Mau's work focuses on figuration and the human form. His bold and unapologetic paintings depict the raw emotions and struggles of the human experience. Mau's use of vivid colors and gestural brushstrokes imbue his works with a sense of urgency and immediacy. Together, Bader and Mau's works create a powerful visual dialogue that explores the intersection of the internal and external landscapes of an artist's life.
